Frey Peak


This peak is significantly recognized by the Government of Sikkim for trekking and climbing. This destination is like a window to the divine lakes, snow-capped mountains, divine lakes, and spectacular beauty. Mt. Tenchenkhang has been appreciated by many climbers for offering an adrenaline climb. This mountain of 6010 meters offers a stunning view of the Himalayas and Mount Makalu of Nepal and we don’t think there is a better spot for mountaineering in Sikkim than this.

Day 1

After arriving in Gangtok, drive towards Yuksom, the base of expedition. Dinner and overnight stay in guesthouse/ hotels.

Day 2

Trek from Yuksum to Sachen 9kms time taken approx. 5/6 hrs. Trek begins with a low gradient until you cross Sachen and the third bridge , Walk through dense forest of pine and oak after crossing river PrekChu it is straight 70 degree uphill climb this is the toughest stage in the entire trek , It will last for 2 Hrs depends on the fitness of the clients Finally we will come to Bakhim this is just a resting point for the first day. This campsite has only one hut of forest department in the hilly dense forest. Overnight at Camp or tourist hut.

Day 3

This day you will reach Sachen the trail from Sachen passes through magnolia and rhododendron trees the most tiring uphill climb. Tshoka is a small village housing about twelve thatched roof houses mainly Tibetan settlement .If weather remains clear we can see Mount Pandim, Aralunchong, Lama –Lamini,Pandim. Overnight in Tent

Day 4

On this day the trail passes through the village of Tsokha and continues to climb north through the forest of rhododendron to the alp of Phedang (3650 m) taking around 3 hrs to complete the ascent. Continue further towards Dzongri. On arrival set campsite for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5

On this day, one can see the beautiful views of the mountain peaks by climbing up to Dzongri Top. From here, you get a panoramic view of Kabru (7353 mts), Ratong (6678 mts), Kanchenjunga (8534 mts), Koktang (6147 mts), Pandim (6691 mts) and Narsingh (5825 mts). Towards the west, the Singalila Ridge, which separates Sikkim from Nepal, can be seen.

Day 6

In the morning, follow the trek to Chaurikhang 14,600 ft which begins with a magnificent panoramic view of various peaks. Soon after leaving Dzongri, you will find that the trial is more or less steep up to Dzongri La Pass, from where the first sight of Chaurikhang and Rathong River is seen. After resting a while here, the trek is downhill through the slopes towards the Bikhbari. It is a beautiful trial to walk on surrounded by huge mountains. The trek again becomes little tough as you will be approaching Chaurikhang. It will be little tiring from Bikhbari. Enjoy a night stay in tents at Chaurikhang.

Day 7

You will walk on trek from Churikhang to Frey ABC, which is steep uphill trek with moraines making harder to walk. Note that only essentials supplies will be shifted to ABC leaving unnecessary items in Chaurikhang only.

Day 8

The day will be used for opening route from advance base camp to below summit of Frey peak. Team of climbing guide will fix the rope for your safety till below the summit of Frey since 300 ft of the route is steep with boulders making it risky to climb. Later return back to ABC for an overnight stay in tents.

Day 9

wake up early in the morning at around 3 am and go for summit. The route till summit is steep climb, but with equipments and our climbing guide team will make it little easy for you to reach Frey peak summit with more safety. After seeing panoramic view of surrounding with huge Rathong Glacier and High Peaks like Kabru Dome, Kabru North, Rathong and Kokthang, we will slowly descent to ABC. Later in the afternoon, we will shift down to Chaurikhang. An overnight stay at Chaurikhang in tent

Day 10

Trek from Chaurikhang to Tshoka, which will be a long trek but you will find it easier while walking down after staying in high altitude for some days. Once you will cross Dzongri pass and then Dzongri, you will find it easy to walk as level of oxygen will grow more as you go down.

Day 11

In the morning, move back towards Yuksom from Tshoka on the final day of the trek. The trek will be quite easier as the path is mainly downhill. From here, drive to Gangtok.
