It is mainly surrounded by small hamlets of Lepcha tribals and their culture, tradition and life style are still well preserved. DETAILS ON EVERY MONTH 1. January: A snow-laden Kanchendzonga ushers in the new year in the serenity, amongst the tranquil beauty of Kaluk. Hot coffee to start with, fresh oranges in the afternoon and hide beneath the warm blankets in the evening. 2. February: Don’t let the strong winds and the chill in the air in the evening deter you from welcoming the young sprouts and the twigs and feel the warm February sun on your back during the day. 3. March: The song of the birds, the chirp of the sparrows and the lush green mountains all around whisper that spring is here. Take a long walk in the beautiful, quiet mornings and spend your late evenings sipping a drink gazing at the mighty Kanchendzonga. 4. April: The bloom of the beautiful Rhododendron flowers marks April and the entire valley is covered under its red shadow. Laze around and soak in the beauty of nature. Fill your lungs and heart with the fresh air and enjoy the April sun. 5. May: Escape the summer sun and recharge your mind and soul in May. Enjoy the sound of crickets and chase dragonflies, away from blaring car horns for the perfect summer break. 6. June & July: With the onset of monsoon in June, and continuing through July, this is the perfect time to day dream whilst staying indoors. Practice yoga and meditation, with the sound of rain in the background and wet grass outside. Corn cobs taste delicious in the rain. 7. August: The monsoons continue, but rains are less frequent now. Stay indoors during a drizzle, and go for a run in the misty evenings and come back to MVR for a hot cuppa waiting for you. 8. September: Say goodbye to the rainy season, and welcome autumn. Foggy evenings, and the mountains playing peak in the boo from within the clouds. Relax and enjoy the splendid weather and serene environment. 9. October: It’s festival time!! Come with your loved ones and be a part of Dashain, celebrated in the local community during Dushhera. See the mountains light up during Diwali and dance and sing your heart out with a late evening bonfire. Be sure to bring in some warm clothes as the evenings start to get a little chilly. 10. November & December: This is the best time to visit Kaluk. Catch the majestic view of the snow-kissed Kachendzonga with the clearest of views. Bright sunshine during the day and starry skies at night, get a view of the Milky Way like never before. Wave the year goodbye with song and the sound of carols far-away during Christmas time, and usher in the New Year with your loved ones at Mandarin Village resort. Places of interest:- 1.Rinchenpong Monastery (which is more then 200 years old). 2.Azing Farm (an excellent example of organic farming and is famous for its 26 varieties of organic wine). 3.Megi Dara Monastery (Important Monastery for the locals in and around kaluk). 4.Resum Monastery (Located at the highest point in and around Kaluk which provides a panoramic view of Mt Kanchendzonga). 5.Sadhu Dham (the place famously know for great Rishi Munis to have attained enlightenment and it also provides one of the best views of Mt. Kanchendzonga . 6.Chayatal lake (surrounded by lush greenery our dear guests can enjoy a small boat ride in this beautiful lake). 7.Changey Falls (considered to be on of the best waterfalls in Sikkim). 8.Singshore Bridge (it is the highest bridge in Sikkim and comes under top 5 highest bridges in asia). 9.Cherizy (The biggest statue of a female Buddhist deity in Asia but also provides the guest with an experience of sky walk)
