Sa-Ngor Monastery

Foundation - 1961
Established in the year 1961 at just half an hour drive 5 kms from central Gangtok. The Sa- Ngor Monastery is the only monastery of the Sakya order of Tibetan Buddhism in Sikkim. Located on a beautiful hill top, it was established by His Eminance Luding Khan Rinpoche, head of Ngorpa, sub-sect of the sakya order, with the blessings of HH Sakya Trizing and HH Dalai Lama.
