Day-wise Itinerary Details
Day 1: Arrival at NJP or Bagdogra Airport – Transfer to Gangtok
Begin your adventure by arriving at NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport, where your guide or driver will greet you. From there, set out on a scenic drive to Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim. As you travel through lush valleys and winding mountain roads, enjoy the picturesque landscapes that introduce you to the beauty of Sikkim. Once in Gangtok, check in at your hotel and relax. In the evening, explore MG Marg, Gangtok’s popular promenade, where you can shop for souvenirs, savor local cuisine, or simply enjoy the ambiance of the lively market area. Overnight stay in Gangtok.
Day 2: Excursion to Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, and Nathula Pass
After a hearty breakfast, prepare for a full-day excursion to some of Sikkim's most iconic spots. Your first stop is Tsomgo Lake, also known as Changu Lake, a breathtaking glacial lake located 38 km from Gangtok. Nestled amidst snow-capped mountains, Tsomgo Lake captivates with its scenic beauty and serene atmosphere. Afterward, visit Baba Mandir, a memorial dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh, a revered Indian Army soldier known for his legacy and service. Next, journey to Nathula Pass, the historic mountain pass linking India and Tibet. The trip to Nathula offers a unique experience with breathtaking high-altitude views; however, please note that special permits are required and access depends on weather conditions.
Return to Gangtok in the evening and relax, or explore more of the local area. Overnight stay in Gangtok.
Day 3: Gangtok to Darjeeling via Scenic Stops
Following breakfast, check out from your hotel in Gangtok and embark on a scenic journey to Darjeeling, a town celebrated for its tea gardens and colonial charm. En route, you’ll pass by stunning locations like the Teesta Valley and Lovers View Point, where you can take short breaks to soak in the surroundings. Explore Lamahatta Eco Park, known for its tranquil setting and beautiful views, before continuing your journey through Peshok. Upon arrival in Darjeeling, check in at your hotel. In the evening, you’re free to stroll along Mall Road, sample local delicacies, or shop for handicrafts. Overnight stay in Darjeeling.
Day 4: Full Day of Darjeeling Sightseeing
Begin your day with an early morning trip to Tiger Hill to catch a mesmerizing sunrise over the Kanchenjunga range. Witness the first rays of sunlight illuminating the third-highest mountain in the world—an experience that will stay with you forever. On the way back, visit the historic Ghoom Monastery, one of Darjeeling’s oldest monasteries, and Batasia Loop, a spiral railway with panoramic views and a WWII memorial. After breakfast, continue your exploration of Darjeeling, visiting top attractions including the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, home to endangered species like the red panda; the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute; Tenzing Rock; the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center, where you can learn about local handicrafts; and the Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda, which offer tranquil surroundings and stunning views. Day 5: Darjeeling to NJP/Bagdogra via Mirik Lake and Pasupati Market
After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Darjeeling and begin your return journey. Along the way, stop at Pasupati Market, a lively shopping area on the India-Nepal border, known for its variety of goods at affordable prices. Next, continue to Mirik Lake, a serene lake encircled by lush forests and tea plantations, where you can enjoy a peaceful boating experience (boating fees not included). After soaking in the beauty of Mirik Lake, proceed towards NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport for your departure, bidding farewell to the enchanting landscapes and memories of your journey through Sikkim and Darjeeling.
